Hello vintage LEGO lovers 🏨
On page 2 of the German edition of Idea Book 238-1, among cheerful town scenes and tidy little buildings, stands a structure so large and confidently yellow that one cannot help but imagine it has a story to tell. I like to call it The Grand Yellow Hotel.

The Grand Yellow Hotel is, naturally, the sort of place where things happen. For example, two discreet visitors — whom we shall simply call Louis and Laura — apparently decided last year to conduct a most ambitious private experiment: visiting the hotel’s thirty rooms, one by one, over the course of the year. Whether this was an act of romance, curiosity, or an extremely committed architectural study remains unclear.
After their evenings of… interior appreciation, the two would wander through the quiet streets nearby. And every time, without fail, they would feel a pair of golden eyes watching them from above — Coco, the resident cat, observing the world from his window with the calm judgment that only a cat can possess. Coco, naturally, knew everything. Cats always do.
As always on VintageLegoBuilds.com, this model is my reconstruction of the building visible in the original Idea Book illustration. By carefully studying the proportions, windows, and roof geometry, I recreated the structure using modern LEGO elements and prepared instructions and a full parts inventory, so you too can build your own Grand Yellow Hotel.

Just remember: if you stay there…
Coco might be watching. 🐾
